MEET ANDY
Owner Andy Mechtenberg started HERZHAUS in 2014 with a vision to provide superior craftsmanship and services.
A native of South Dakota, Andy grew up in a family familiar with the industry and learned he enjoyed working with his hands at a young age. He helped his father build their family home and spent time in New Orleans working for his brother’s construction business. He further developed his craft working for both a small-town homebuilder and then supervising at a commercial builder. After meeting his wife and moving to Cincinnati in 2008 he started working in sales for a large residential builder and has since worked for a custom homebuilder and custom remodeler before starting HERZHAUS. He has loved being able to call Cincinnati home the last decade and loves the midwestern feel and the friendly people.
WHAT DOES HERZHAUS MEAN?
HEART + HOME
A loose German translation of heart of the home, the name seemed appropriate since the kitchen is such a warm inviting space where so many wonderful memories are shared. We love transforming the space where people gather and make meals together. HERZHAUS is also a nod to both Andy’s and Cincinnati’s German Heritage.
WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO HERZHAUS?
CONTRACTING WITH A CONSCIOUS
We want to make sure the job is done the right way even if that means spending the extra time to ensure it is up to our standards. We are constantly striving to do the quality of work that we would put into our own homes. Quality craftsmanship is at the forefront of what we stand for and we work with suppliers who offer brands you can trust, and styles that will last for many years.
